Wudang Mountain - a world cultural heritage site and a holy land of Taoism in China, also known as Taihe Mountain, Xieluo Mountain, Shenshang Mountain and Xianshi Mountain. It was known as "Taiyue", "Xuanyue" and "Dayue" in ancient times.
In the Ming Dynasty, Wudang Mountain was named "Dayue" and "Xuanyue to govern the world" by the emperor, and was revered as "the royal family temple". Wudang Mountain is world-famous for its status as the "Crown of the Five Mountains" with "the four famous mountains all bowing to each other, and the five celestial mountains sharing their ancestral ancestry". Zixiao Palace
Zixiao Palace, also known as "Zixiao Yuansheng Palace", was built in the Xuanhe period of the Song Dynasty (1119-1125), rebuilt in the Yuan Dynasty, and expanded in the 10th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1412), with the title of "Taixuan Zixiao Palace". Located at the foot of Zhanqi Peak in the northeast of Tianzhu Peak, the main peak of Wudang Mountain, it covers an area of about 274,000 square meters. It is large in scale and extraordinary in momentum. The main existing buildings include the palace gate, stele pavilion, Chongtai, main hall, parents' hall, etc.
Zixiao Palace is backed by Zhanqi Peak; facing the wall, Santai, Wulao, Candle, Luomao and Incense Burner peaks; on the right is the Thunder God Cave; on the left are Yuji Pool and Baozhu Peak. The surrounding mountains naturally formed a treasure chair with two dragons playing with pearls. Emperor Yongle of the Ming Dynasty named it the "Purple Sky Blessed Land". In 1932, it was the headquarters of the Red Army during the Second Revolutionary War, and Marshal He Long once lived here.
Nanyan Palace
Nanyan, also known as "Zixiaoyan", is called Nanyan because it faces the south. Its full name is Dasheng Nanyan Palace, which is the most perfect combination of cultural landscape and natural landscape in Wudang Mountain. It is located on the southern rock of Wudang Mountain, with the Tianzhu peaks in the south, Wulongding in the north, Zhanqi Peak in the east, and Feishengtai in the west. It is connected to Bixiao above and Juejian below. It was built in the second year of Yuan Dynasty. In the twelfth year (1285), many buildings were built later. Some of the main existing buildings are the remains of reconstructions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The existing buildings and ruins of Nanyan Palace cover an area of 61,187 square meters, with a total of 83 temples and a total construction area of 3,539 square meters. It mainly consists of Nanyan Palace, Nantianmen, Stele Pavilion, Liangyi Palace, Huangjing Hall, and Eight It is composed of Fengting Pavilion, Dragon and Tiger Hall and other buildings, and there are historical monuments such as dressing table and ascending platform on the peaks of Yannan. In the Tang Dynasty, Lu Dongbin, one of the Eight Immortals, practiced Taoism in Nanyan, and a poem written by him still remains here.
faucet incense
In Nanyan, a stone sculpture sticking out of the cliff has always been talked about by people. This stone sculpture is called the Dragon Head Stone, which is often referred to as the "dragon head incense".
The faucet incense is three meters long and 0.5 meters wide. It is two dragons that are integrated into one body and were carved by ancient craftsmen using various techniques such as round carving, hollow carving, and shadow carving. It is said that the two dragons hanging in the air on the ten thousand-foot cliff are the royal knights of Emperor Xuanwu. Emperor Xuanwu often rides them to patrol around.
Precisely because of the mystery and status of the dragon head incense, the believers and disciples, to show their piety, must burn "dragon head incense" every time they come to Wudang and walk on the boundary between yin and yang life and death. Because they are facing an abyss, people who burn incense on the dragon's head have to kneel down from the narrow dragon's body to the dragon's head to light the incense, and then kneel back down. If they are not careful, they will be shattered to pieces.
There is no doubt that since the Long Touxiang was built in the Ming Dynasty, countless people have fallen from it, and the situation is horrific. In the twelfth year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, the Governor of the Sichuan and Lake Ministries ordered a ban on burning faucet incense and erected a monument as a warning. The inscription warns people that God is merciful and sincere, and that worship of God does not necessarily require climbing to the top of a cliff to burn incense; so do not repeat the past mistakes and destroy precious lives.
The ban on burning faucet incense tablets not only saves the lives of many people, but also illustrates a truth, that is, cherishing life.
golden dome
The Golden Summit located on Tianzhu Peak, the main peak of Wudang Mountain, is the largest gilded copper hall in my country. It was built in the 14th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1416). The hall is 5.5 meters high, 5.8 meters wide and 4.2 meters deep.
There are fine patterns on the pillars and caissons in the palace. There is a gold-plated pearl hanging on the caisson well, which is known as the "windshielding fairy pearl". Legend has it that this orb can calm the mountain wind and prevent it from blowing into the temple door, thus ensuring that the magic lamp in the temple remains bright.
There is a bronze statue of "Zhenwu" in the Golden Palace, weighing 10 tons. Outside the hall is a white jade railing platform, and below it is the Purple Gold City, which is about 1,500 meters long. The city wall is made of huge rectangular stones built against the mountain. This golden palace is built on Tianzhu Peak, the most majestic and steep among the peaks of Wudang Mountain, and has the effect of "Golden Tower of Yaotai in the Sky".
Temple of Wealth
Manzhu Manor is located near the Temple of Wealth in Wudang Mountain.
The temple is weather-beaten and dilapidated. However, it can still be seen that the original structure and appearance of the temple have not been destroyed. Nowadays, there is a shrine for the God of Wealth in the temple, and pilgrims come here every day to worship. Even though the temple is old and dilapidated, there is still an endless stream of pilgrims and the incense is flourishing.
